Spurs are reported to be optimistic that they could reach an agreement with Everton to make Richarlison the north Londoners fourth signing of the summer transfer window.
Football.London suggest that if a deal can be reached before midnight tomorrow it would allow the Toffees, providing they issue evidence of the deal, they would be able to count it towards the current FFP year.
The Sun claimed yesterday that Everton could face face sanctions including a point deduction if they do not make a major sale this week to confirm with the Premier League’s profit and sustainability rules.
The Brazilian is said to be keen to make the move to Tottenham, with Everton valuing Richarlison at over £50million, however they could look to reduce the fee by writing off add-ons which were agreed as part of Dele Alli’s move to Goodison Park in January (Telegraph).
Our View – Only a matter of time
It seems to be only a matter of time before Spurs secure their fourth signing of the window with the arrival of Richarlison who will be able to play across the front three and also as a lone striker when needed, which certainly takes the pressure off Antonio Conte to play Harry Kane in every single Premier League match prior to Champions League fixtures.
The 25-year-old had a respectable season in a struggling Everton side which managed to retain their Premier League status by the skin of their teeth and now faces a completely different challenge having gone from being the main man on Merseyside to a player battling for a starting place.
