Tottenham Hotspur and Middlesbrough are yet to come to an agreement over the transfer of right-back Djed Spence, according to the Evening Standard.

The youngster has been a high-priority target for Antonio Conte all summer and the Italian is said to have wanted the deal to have been concluded before the team depart for the pre-season tour of South Korea tomorrow evening.

Unfortunately, it seems that Spence will not be joining the rest of the squad on the flight to Asia since the two clubs appear to remain at loggerheads about the valuation of the deal

The player is said to be valued at £15-£20million and the clubs are still trying to iron out aspects of the deal with the north Londoners looking to reach an agreement for the England Under-21 international.

Our View – Better late than never

The announcement of Spence cannot come soon enough and it is almost certain that the youngster will not be a part of the squad touring South Korea but he remains an important transfer target for Antonio Conte.

He may not get as much time to work with the team before the Premier League season kicks off but it is vital that the two clubs reach an agreement so that the rebuild under Conte continues in a direction the Italian likes.

Spurs are shaping up to be a team to watch this season and the addition of a talented young right-back could be key to unleashing Antonio Conte’s brand of football this upcoming season.
