French defender Clement Lenglet has joined Tottenham Hotspur on a season-long loan deal that does not include the option to make the move permanent.
With having experience of winning trophies in Spain, Lenglet let the Spurs faithful know that he will do everything he can to be aggressive, positive and play on the front foot.
Speaking to the official Spurs site, Lenglet said: “It’s a beautiful moment to work [with Antonio Conte] and learn all he knows about football.”
The defender is also looking forward to connecting with his national team skipper Hugo Lloris at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with the 15-cap international adding: “Hugo is a Tottenham legend. I spoke a lot with Hugo to know about the city and everything to ensure I am good with my family in London”
Our View – Positive initial signs
Playing in a different league in a new country can often be a challenge but Clement Lenglet seems to be approaching this challenge with a clear and determined mindset, looking forward to settle in as quickly as possible and learn as much as he can from the Italian maestro.
Having fellow Frenchman and club skipper Hugo Lloris around to show him the ropes and getting to play on the left of a 3-at-the-back system, his preferred set-up, promises to make his stay at Tottenham an exciting prospect.
