Tottenham Hotspur are in advanced talks with Sevilla over a potential loan move for Sergio Reguilon, according to a report from Football Insider,
The Spanish outfit are reported to be interested in bringing the left-sided player back to the club, having previously spent the 2019/20 season on loan at the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium while under contract at Real Madrid.
Sevilla recently allowed Ludwig Agustinsson to join Aston Villa for the upcoming campaign and are now in the market to look to secure a replacement for the Swedish international.
Reguilon was one of four high-profile players to have been omitted from Tottenham’s pre-season tour of South Korea along with Tanguy Ndombele, Harry Winks, and Giovani Lo Celso, who all remained back in London and are deemed as surplus to requirements by Antonio Conte (Daily Mail).
The 25-year-old found himself behind Ryan Sessegnon in the pecking order towards the end of last season and the arrival of Ivan Perisic has further hampered his chances of regular first-team football.
Our View
Reguilon joined the London club back in 2020 for a fee of £29 million and initially had a good start at the club, showcasing his pace down the left flank but in recent times has struggled with consistency
With Ivan Persic and Ryan Sessegnon vying for the left wing-back starting berth within Conte’s side, Reguilon’s best option is to head out and get regular first team football elsewhere, with a return to Spain likely to prove to be an attractive proposition for him.
