Torino president Urbano Cairo has admitted that he is prepared to sell Gleison Bremer this summer but has warned potential suitors that the values the defender at more than £59.1million.
Bremer, 25, is slowly establishing himself as one of the top defenders in European football and has been linked with a move to Tottenham, Arsenal, Chelsea (90min), and Inter Milan (Di Marzio) this summer.
Tuttosport claimed in March that Spurs scouts were in attendance to watch Bremer during Torino’s 1-1 draw with their cross-city rivals, Juventus.
Cairo claimed that if Inter Milan value centre half Milan Skriniar in the region of €70million (£59.1million), then Bremer is worth more than the Slovakian international.
He told Italian broadcaster LA7: “Is there a fair price for Bremer? There is, but I don’t think it’s fair to say it,”
“I am on excellent terms with his agent and I have spoken to him. The player is an extraordinary guy. I told him that when a suitable offer arrives, I would sell him. But everything is relative.”
He added: “I hear about 70 million euros for Skriniar. I think Bremer is worth more,” Cairo adds.
“My goal is to please him. And I will do because, in any case, those who can afford him will be top-level teams.”
Our View
Tottenham Hotspur are not done with their summer recruitment. They have reinforced their attack and to an extent, their midfield as well. But, their defence is something that needs to be paid attention to as well. Antonio Conte has signed Clement Lenglet but he could look to sign Bremer, with an exit looming for Reguilon (AS).
Bremer is an attractive choice. Having already been successful in a three-man system, he can forge a successful partnership with Christian Romero. He is a right-footed centre-back who is both technically adept and composed when he has the ball. His speed and ability to win aerial duels are an added bonus in his gameplay as well.
A bidding war could erupt for his signature this summer. Inter Milan have already agreed on personal terms with him but are yet to agree on a transfer fee with Torino (Fabrizio Romano).
