Journalist Dean Jones has claimed that a member of the touring party to South Korea told him that Antonio Conte ‘seems like a different person’ with how happy he currently appears to be at the club.

The Italian has just returned to north London following the club’s pre-season tour of Korea in which they beat Team K-League 6-3 in their opening fixture and followed it up with a 1-1 draw against La Liga outfit Sevilla.

Tottenham have been busy in the summer transfer window, having brought in six new faces to date to help bolster his ranks as the club looks to compete on multiple fronts next season, including a long-awaited return to the Champions League.

Djed Spence became their newest addition earlier today having secured a switch from Middlesbrough and joins Fraser Forster, Ivan Perisic, Yves Bissouma, Richarlison and Clement Lenglet through the door in N17.

Conte said back in March that he wanted to remain in charge of the Premier League side if chairman Daniel Levy matched his ambition and was not prepared to just settle for a fourth place finish (Football.London).

There has been significant investment within the playing ranks with the club now having spent £115million since the window opened, putting them at the top of the Premier League spending chart (Football Daily).

Jones told the The Done Deal Show: “It’s just perfect for Conte. He’s so happy right now and that’s what is key. Keeping Conte as happy as he is right now is just an absolute win for Tottenham and Daniel Levy and everyone at the club,”

“I spoke to someone who is on tour with them and they said Conte is just so happy, he just seems like a different person. Of course, you still see the warrior side of him, sending players on 42 laps of the pitch in that heat, but his demeanour, he looks like a man who is very content at the moment and that isn’t always the case with Antonio Conte.”

Our View

Antonio Conte called for the club to show ambition and they have certainly changed their tact and got their business done early in the window which will no doubt please the Italian.

Conte has a strong personality and that often causes him to have issues at boardroom level in the past, and to see both him and Daniel Levy happy with the way things are progressing, are certainly good signs for the lilywhites. The one-time Premier League winner could very well be the man to take Spurs to their first trophy in 14 years in the year ahead.
