Bayern Munich are ‘in love’ with Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The Bundesliga giants have recently lost the services of the prolific Robert Lewandowksi, who completed a move to Barcelona and leaves a considerable goalscoring void for the Bavarians, having netted a remarkable 344 goals in 375 appearances across all competitions during his time there (transfermarkt).
Bayern boss Julian Nagelsmann has publicly refused to rule out the prospect of signing Kane in the future (Sky Sports) with the German’s opinion having angered Spurs head coach Antonio Conte who described the comments as ‘disrespectful‘ to the north Londoners.
Romano has claimed in his weekly column for CaughtOffside via Substack that Naglesmann and the Bayern board believe Kane is capable of registering a similar goalscoring record at the Allianz Arena to what Lewandowski registered: “A lot has been said about Harry Kane and Bayern Munich, and it’s certainly true that Bayern are in love with Harry Kane. Julian Nagelsmann and the board consider him one of the few strikers ready to guarantee as many goals as Robert Lewandowski,”
The transfer guru has however poured cold water on any prospect of Kane heading to the Bundesliga and believes that Tottenham’s intention is to open new contract talks in the coming months, he added: “However, this is not even a topic or a negotiation right now. Tottenham will not be negotiating for Kane this summer and there has never been any chance. Harry is untouchable and will play for Tottenham. The club’s idea is to negotiate a new contract in the coming months.”

Our View
One thing is clear: Spurs don’t intend to part ways with Harry Kane anytime soon. It is good to see that Conte is clear with his plans and the Three Lions man is the one to lead his project. The academy graduate has made 385 appearances for the Lillywhites and has netted 247 times in all competitions which is impressive considering the Premier League is more demanding than the Bundesliga (transfermarkt).
Bayern’s interest in Kane may be serious but one can trust Daniel Levy to play hardball in negotiations should the German giants approach Spurs for their talisman. Last summer Spurs shot down four Manchester City bids to sign Kane (Daily Mail). And, history may just repeat itself.
