Valencia have followed in the footsteps of fellow La Liga side Real Sociedad in asking to take Bryan Gil on loan, Fabrizio Romano has revealed on Twitter.

Gil arrived in north London while Nuno Espirito Santo was in charge as one of Fabio Paratici’s first bits of business in his role as managing director of football and struggled to make an impression during his first half-season in England, making just nine Premier League substitute appearances for a total of 86 minutes of action (transfermarkt).

The winger headed out on loan to Valencia in January and featured regularly at the Mestalla before he suffered a hip injury.

The Spanish international was named by Antonio Conte among the substitutes for Saturday’s Premier League opener against Southampton on Saturday, but was not called into action.

Romano has insisted that Tottenham are yet to come to a full agreement with any interested club in the 21-year-old as of yet.

Our View

Gil needs to head out on loan again, given the quality which is ahead of him in the pecking order at Tottenham.  The youngster also lacks the physical stature to cope with the demands of the Premier League at present, and if the club saw a long-term future for him in N17 it would have made more sense for the club to loan him out to the likes of Fulham or Nottingham Forest to acclimatise to English football.
