Tottenham Hotspur summer signing Yves Bissouma is having trouble adjusting to the club’s tactical demands, according to Antonio Conte.
Despite joining in the summer after an impressive sting at Brighton, Bissouma has only started one game so far this season which came in the 1-1 draw against West Ham.
The centre midfield partnership of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Rodrigo Bentancur, who worked so well together when Spurs qualified for the Champions League in the second half of last season, has been used most frequently by Conte with Oliver Skipp having been sidelined until recently due to the foot injury he sustained in pre-season.
Conte has revealed what the Mali international needs to improve on as the club enter the international break following tomorrow’s home match against Leicester City.
“There are players like Richarlison, who went into the team quickly, [Clement] Lenglet was the same, [Ivan] Perisic, the only player struggling with the tactical aspect is Bissouma,” Conte told the Daily Express.
“I try to take the best decision because I want to protect the player. When we play 12 games in one month, you need to be ready because I need all my players.”

Bissouma is an intelligent player and was the thorn in Tottenham’s side when Brighton won in north London towards the end of last season. He has been unlucky having contracted Covid during the tour of South Korea and picked up an injury during the match against Roma in Israel. Hopefully he will soon adjust to the demands of the Italian and look to provide strong competition for a place in the starting eleven.
