Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly joined the race to sign Fenerbache youngster Arda Güler, as the club looks to improve its youth prospects as well as building an experienced squad for the first team.

It is well known that Antonio Conte has a preference for signing ready-made, highly-experienced players with a view to creating a team of players who know how to win and can adapt to his system quicker.

We have already seen success in that approach, with Ivan Perisic joining Spurs on a free transfer earlier this summer. The 33-year-old already has seven assists to his name this season (transfermarkt).

That approach can only deliver more immediate, short-term success though, and Spurs are also keen to develop a strong production line of young players to sustain the future of the club.

With this in mind, it looks like Spurs have joined the race for the 17-year-old Arda Güler, who currently plays in the Turkish Süper Lig for Fenerbache.

According to Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli, (relayed by Tutto Napoli), Güler has caught the attention of various big clubs around Europe, with reports suggesting the midfielder “tickles the palate of the biggest clubs in the world.”

It is believed Napoli and Paris Saint Germain are keen on snapping up the Turkish youngster, who has three goals and one assist in 13 games for his club this season (Transfermarkt).

Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli claim the interest comes from “above all Tottenham and Paris Saint-Germain,” although there is a belief Serie A side Napoli “like Arda Güler a lot.”

Our View

I really like that we are being linked with some of the biggest young talents around at the moment and it’s important that we look to the future, too. Our youth teams are not performing all that well at the moment and are in desperate need of reinforcements who can eventually help to improve the first team when their time comes.
