PSV Eindhoven are planning to reject any potential Tottenham bid for talented winger Johan Bakayoko in the January transfer window, according to Football Insider.
The same publication claimed a earlier this month that Spurs will join Brentford in the race for 20-year-old PSV player and also also have Juventus’ Samuel Iling-Junior on their shortlist.
Sky Sports also recently revealing that Brentford are likely to compete with Tottenham for the player’s signature.
Bakayoko has made a solid start to the campaign with four goals and 13 assists in 24 games this season across all competitions (Transfermarkt).
Tottenham’s injury issues have seen them without the services of wingers Ivan Perisic, who suffered an ACL injury in September and summer arrival Manor Solomon is expected to return from knee surgery at some point this month (Evening Standard).
PSV to reject Spurs approach
The report claims that the Dutch club are planning to reject any approach for the player in January unless Tottenham, Brentford or any club interested make a ‘crazy offer’.
PSV do not want to lose the services of Bakayoko mid-season with the club currently sitting top of the Eredivisie table, having opened up a ten point gap on Feyenoord, following their 2-1 victory over their rivals at the weekend.
Spurs Musings Opinion
Right now, I think Samuel Iling-Junior is our priority in January. Bakayoko might just be an alternative. There’s no doubt that Spurs need some depth considering how decimated the squad has been by injuries already this season.
I do not see Tottenham playing crazy money for Bakayoko in January. The Belgian might be impressing in the Eredivisie but the Premier League is a different ball game – as Steven Bergwijn proved during his time in England.
