Julian Nagelsmann has addressed Bayern Munich being linked with a potential move for Tottenham Hotspur star Harry Kane in this summer transfer window.

The Bundesliga giants recently lost the services of their talisman Robert Lewandowski to Barcelona for a fee of £42.5million, including add-ons (Sky Sports) which have left them without any natural centre-forwards in their ranks at this moment.

Bild reported earlier this week that Bayern have spoken to Kane‘s representatives over a potential move to the club, with it said that the England captain’s camp did not give a firm no over a switch to Germany.

Kane’s future was the subject of intense press speculation last summer with Manchester City having heavily courted the Spurs star, only to find chairman Daniel Levy unwilling to enter into any talks to sell the 28-year-old (Manchester Evening News).

Nagelsmann has offered his thoughts on whether a move for the Spurs man would be possible and the German coach has played down the chances of a deal in this transfer window, but he has left the door open in the future.

Speaking to Manuel Veth, Nagelsmann said: “He is very expensive. He is strong with the ball, strong body. It could be possible of course at some point but at that price, it is really tough. We will have to see what happens in the future.”

Our View

Last month, Kane had hinted that he would stay with Spurs beyond this summer (The Sun) after helping them to a Champions League spot in the previous campaign. If that is the case, then it is difficult to see why the talisman would change his stance if he is looking forward to the upcoming season.

Daniel Levy and Fabio Paratici have done great business in this window by bringing in the necessary reinforcements to bolster the squad. Antonio Conte is set to stay at N17 (The Mirror), and the club has now given him the necessary tools to work his magic.

In such a situation, Kane has greater chances of achieving success with us right now compared to how it was in the past. Furthermore, a move to a completely different surrounding this summer could also be risky when the 2022 Qatar World Cup is on the horizon.

However, we must be wary of this situation and tie down the 28-year-old on a new contract. The German side appears to be not in the running for Kane right now, but Nagelsmann’s words do suggest that they may target him in the future.

That could be problematic with Kane seeing his current deal expiring in 2024, which gives us all the more reason to renew his contract at the earliest.
