Bayern Munich CEO Oliver Kahn has admitted that Tottenham Hotspur centre forward Harry Kane would undoubtedly be a massive addition to bolster their attacking department in the future.

Bayern Munich have just lost Robert Lewandowski to Barcelona in a £42.5million transfer move (Daily Mail), which leaves them in a difficult situation since they have no natural replacement in their squad to take over from the Polish international for the next season.

Kane’s future was uncertain when he tried to join Manchester City last summer but failed to facilitate a move in the end (Manchester Evening News). However, following Antonio Conte’s arrival, things have taken a turn for the better with the England captain said to be optimistic about his future (Daily Mail).

That would provide a sigh of relief to those in N17, especially after Kahn revealed his admiration for the 28-year-old attacker. However, Bayern can also be ruled out of contention this summer after their chief expressed that their focus lies elsewhere for now.

Speaking to Sport Bild, Kahn told: “He’s under contract with Tottenham. Sure, an absolute top striker, but that’s all a dream of the future.”

Our View

We cannot afford to lose Kane in any way, especially after the remarkable job Conte has done by getting us into the Champions League. The forward’s impact cannot certainly be overlooked as he has formed a formidable partnership with Son Heung-Min and Dejan Kulusevski up front.

Fortunately for us, Kane no longer intends to leave Spurs which certainly gives us an assurance over his future. Furthermore, he would also be delighted to see the business done by the management in this transfer window which helped to uplift the squad’s quality by giving Conte the right tools to work his magic.

That being said, a contract extension is not on the cards any time soon, although the club and the player are relaxed about the situation (90min). Kane’s current deal will expire in 2024, which does give us some room to work with as both parties have an understanding that talks will begin over a renewal in the future.

In any case, the fans would hope to see their talisman sign a new contract shortly, as that would essentially end all the talks surrounding his future, as is the case at this moment. Only time will tell how this situation will pan out moving forward.
