Villarreal are currently in talks with Tottenham Hotspur over deals for Giovani Lo Celso and Tanguy Ndombele, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Italian transfer expert revealed on Twitter that the La Liga outfit are interested in both players, who are out of favour in north London with both being discussed as separate deals.

Negotiations around both deals are structured based on a loan with a buy option which could become an obligation if certain targets are met within the agreement.

Lo Celso spent the second half on loan at the Yellow Submarine, having joined in January and impressed during their Champions League campaign where they made it to the semi-final stage of the competition.

Ndombele also headed out on loan at a similar time when he returned to Lyon, however, his former club passed up on the opportunity to make the deal permanent.

Our View

Tottenham will certainly want to get both players off their wage bill, even if it means paying a percentage for the season ahead with neither being part of Antonio Conte’s plans going forward.

With Ndombele earning £200,000-a-week, it would be likely that Spurs would be paying a fair share of his salary, while Lo Celso’s move should be relatively straightforward given his desire to return to the club.

Both signings have to go down as two of the biggest mistakes the club have made in the transfer market in recent times, with almost £100million wasted on the pair.
