Olympique Lyonnais president Jean-Michel Aulas has confirmed the French club have received bids for Lucas Paqueta amid rumoured interest from clubs in the Premier League.
ESPN Brazil earlier this week reported that Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City have all made contact with the Ligue 1 outfit in recent weeks.
The Brazilian was earlier the subject of interest from Newcastle United during the January transfer window having failed with an offer when in discussions for Bruno Guimaraes.
Aulas told the Evening Standard: “There are proposals for him.
“There are certain players who can feel complete in the project, and others who don’t. Economically, we have the means to pursue our ideas and objectives.
“The coach gave us his opinion and there is also what the players wants to do.”
Lyon coach Peter Bosz revealed that he has already discussed Paqueta’s future with the player himself, but refused to reveal the outcome of the talks: “I want to keep all the good players, but you also have to be realistic. Lucas is a very important player, but it depends on what the player wants. I already had a conversation with him, but that will be between us.”
Our View – Creative injection to our midfield
Antonio Conte has a plethora of options in the midfield areas with Pierre-Emile Højbjerg, Oliver Skipp, Yves Bissouma and Rodrigo Bentancur competing for starting roles. While the Italian may be spoilt for choice, one thing his squad lacks is a creative force in the middle of the park with most of the options mentioned previously shining more in the defensive or ball-carrying departments.
It would be in the creative department that Paqueta would really elevate the current Spurs squad, with 21 goals and 13 assists in 77 appearances for Lyon across all competitions (transfermarkt), the Brazilian could prove to be a force behind Son and Kane should the north London choose to pursue the midfielder.
