Roberto De Fanti, the agent of Tottenham Hotspur centre-back Japhet Tanganga, will travel to Italy in the next few hours to meet with AC Milan, according to Gianluca Di Marzio.

Milan is planning to reinforce their backline and have turned their attention toward Tanganga to meet their needs. He is adored by those at San Siro, as they have already held preliminary talks with Tottenham over a potential transfer move.

A meeting has been scheduled between the Milan-based club and De Fanti in the coming hours, which could determine what lies in store for Tanganga. Fabrizio Romano has already revealed that the Serie A outfit are keen to sign the central defender on a loan deal this summer.

Spurs’ managing director of football Fabio Paratici is also said to be currently in Milan, with negotiations ongoing with the Italian club regarding Tanganga’s future.

Our View

Tanganga could prove to be a valuable asset for us in the future, but that may not be the case at this moment. After all, even if Antonio Conte depended upon him when he was available for selection, the Englishman has not always been consistent with mistakes being a regular part of his game.

Perhaps a move to Italy could do Tanganga wonders, considering how Fikayo Tomori has developed to become a fine centre-half under Stefano Pioli’s guidance. Facilitating a loan move would also ensure that we can get the 23-year-old back next summer once his temporary spell ends with the Rossoneri.

Clement Lenglet would return to Barcelona after his loan spell next summer (Daily Mail), which means that Tanganga could potentially replace him if he can improve in a defensive league like Serie A. Conte would also know by that point whether the 23-year-old can make it into his plans after assessing his time in Milan.

However, it will be interesting to see what Spurs do with Joe Rodon if Tanganga ends up leaving this summer. We do lack a backup for Eric Dier right now, with Conte having admitted in the past that he sees Rodon as a second fiddle to Dier in their squad (Football.London).

Perhaps Tanganga’s probable departure could pave the way for Rodon to finally receive opportunities to make a case for himself. That being said, the Welshman has been linked with an exit as well, with Fulham being touted as a potential destination (Football Insider).
