Antonio Conte has revealed that he is pleased with the performances of Ryan Sessegnon during the opening three matches of the new Premier League season.
Sessegnon dropped down to the bench for Saturday’s 1-0 win against Wolves in north London in place of Ivan Perisic, however, the 22-year-old did appear for the final fourteen minutes when he replaced the Croatian.
The England Under-21 international worked hard on his physique during the off season to try and bulk up in a bid to combat his previous injury woes which have delayed his development (The Sun) since joining from Fulham as a teenager back in 2019 for a fee of £25m (ESPN).
Conte acknowledged the performance that Sessegnon had against Wolves and admitted that he has been happy with the efforts of the left wing-back this season, while also highlighting the importance of being able to learn from the experienced Perisic.
Conte told Football.London: “I was very pleased with the impact of Ryan Sessegnon. He is playing very well this season.
“It is very important for him to have a player in front of him someone like Ivan because he has his whole career in front of him.”

For a while, it seemed like we might never see Sessegnon’s potential being realised in a Spurs shirt, given his previous injury issues but has turned a corner since the arrival of Conte.
Hopefully, his hamstring issues can be a thing of the past and help to manage his game time effectively on the left flank along with Perisic. The pair are proving to be delivering an impressive attacking threat down the left so far this season.
