Former Arsenal striker Ian Wright has admitted he is surprised that Tottenham Hotspur are yet to sign a creative midfielder this summer.

Tottenham are said to be in the market for a creative outlet to their midfield but are yet to bring anyone into the role (Evening Standard).  The north Londoners were linked with a move for former player Christian Eriksen earlier in the window, however, Spurs did not follow up their interest in the Dane who later joined Manchester United (Football.London).

Antonio Conte’s side have been heavily active during the transfer period, having brought in six new signings so far with Ivan Perisic, Fraser Forster, Yves Bissouma, Richarlison, Clement Lenglet and Djed Spence having all arrived in N17, while Atalanta left wing-back Destiny Udogie looks set to become the latest addition the squad (Sky Sports).

Wright has revealed he has been left impressed by Tottenham’s movements in the transfer market, having done their business early for once.

Wright told the Kelly and Wrighty Show: “I have to say with Spurs, what I was quite impressed with was the way they did the business very early.

“Something has changed at Spurs. It’s not how it was before.

“I am still surprised I haven’t seen somebody in midfield who is a bit more creative.

“Because you feel like if people start to shut down the full-backs you will stop a lot of what Tottenham do.”

Admittedly, there was a heavy reliance on Harry Kane to pull the strings last season by dropping deep into midfield and allowing Heung-min Son and Dejan Kulesevski to run in behind the defensive line.
