Tottenham are looking to sell Giovani Lo Celso this summer, with his agent Kia Joorabchian looking for solutions to his current situation, according to a report from Spanish news outlet Marca.

Lo Celso, 26, spent the second half of last season on loan at Villarreal having joined in the January transfer window and caught the eye with his displays, which has resulted in the Yellow Submarine said to be keen to land him on a permanent basis.

Spurs paid £27.2million for the 26-year-old back in 2020 (BBC), having made his loan spell in north London from Real Betis permanent only six months into the deal and are reported to be looking to regain that sum and more by offloading him ahead of the new campaign.

The report claims that at present, a £30million fee is too much for the La Liga outfit and they will first need to make an important sale if they wish to sign the 26-year-old.

Our View

When Lo Celso arrived, the optimism was that the Argentina international would run their midfield for years to come. Antonio Conte has left out Harry Winks, Tanguy Ndombele, Sergio Reguilon, and Lo Celso of the club’s pre-season tour to South Korea.

It is clear that he does not plan on including them in his plans for the upcoming season. That said, Spurs are looking to sell them off this summer, having spent £73.7 million (€87.20 million) already (transfermarkt).

The north Londoners are tipped to continue backing Conte. There are likely to be more signings before the start of the next season. And, there will be departures as well.

Lo Celso has not been able to fit at Spurs. He has made 84 appearances for the Lillywhites and has a measly record of eight goals and six assists (transfermarkt). With the World Cup approaching, a move perhaps might be the best option for him. His playing style is more suited to La Liga and Emery utilised him well in the brief period of time he was there last season.

Lo Celso has a high chance of leaving this summer but will Villareal end up paying what Daniel Levy is asking for the former Real Betis man?
