Barcelona defender Clement Lenglet has chosen to join Tottenham Hotspur on loan despite having other offers on the table, according to Mundo Deportivo.
The 27-year-old looks set to become Tottenham’s fifth signing of the summer transfer window with the report suggesting that has already travelled to London to seal his switch.
Lenglet is expected to undergo his medical at Hotspur Way over the course of the weekend and will provide extra depth to Antonio Conte’s central defensive options.
Antonio Conte is said to have played a key role in the French international’s decision to swap the Nou Camp for the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium after the confidence the Italian ‘transferred to him’ was an important factor.
Tottenham have already been more active than most other Premier League clubs during the current window following the arrivals of Ivan Perisic, Fraser Forster, Yves Bissouma and Richarlison.
Our View – Conte the transformer
Whatever Antonio Conte said to Fabio Paratici when the pair met in Italy at the end of last season has certainly worked wonders with Tottenham fans currently witnessing a transfer window like they have never previously experienced and most importantly, getting the business done early enough to allow the fresh faces time to adjust to their new surroundings.
