Leeds United midfielder Raphinha is not Tottenham Hotspur’s first-choice option this summer, according to The Athletic.
Spurs’ north London rivals Arsenal had a bid rejected for the Brazilian yesterday which was said to have fallen considerably below the expectations of the Elland Road outfit.
Raphinha is reported to be holding out for a move to Barcelona, however any move to the Catalan giants is marred by their current financial issues which is holding up their summer transfer dealings.
Despite Arsenal’s interests, the player is claimed to favour a switch to Chelsea if he is unable to move to the Camp Nou this summer, however, the Gunners remain extremely keen to bring him to the side which finished fifth in the Premier League last season.
Third choice at least for Spurs?
It seems hardly surprising that Raphinha is not Spurs’ primary target given his appetite to hold out for moves to either Barcelona or Chelsea. It is not exactly appealing to hear a player wants to join at least two other clubs ahead of you.
It’s still baffling as to why Tottenham are not pushing hard to bring Christian Eriksen back to the club, especially considering he is a free agent. He offers something completely different to our current midfield options when it comes to delivery and would save the club around £50million compared to landing the likes of Raphinha.
