Christian Eriksen’s footballing future looks set to be a decision between Brentford and Manchester United, according to Sky Sports.

Eriksen is currently a free agent following the expiration of his deal at Brentford, while the Bees have offered him a new long-term deal after an impressive six months in west London (Sky Sports).

The Dane was reported to have been left intrigued by Antonio Conte’s comments about a potential return to Tottenham Hotspur, however, Sky’s latest update via their live transfer blog claims that a move back to north London is unlikely, having highlighted the Italian’s preference to play with a midfield pairing.

Brentford are said to be in a strong position to retain the services of Eriksen, with his family settled in London and having some doubts about whether a move to Manchester is in their best interests.

Both clubs are currently in the dark over Eriksen’s likely destination with the Danish international currently on holiday where he is weighting up his options.

Our View – A move elsewhere is best for him

Taking the emotional aspect out of a return to Tottenham, a switch back to N17 probably isn’t the best fit for him given the fact that he wants to play every game for the club he pledges his future with.

Conte’s system doesn’t exactly accommodate Eriksen given the fact he plays with two central midfielders and has a front three, it would mean that he would have to tweak his set-up to cater for his inclusion.   Brentford were good enough to give him a route back into football and it would be good to see him continue the journey there.
