Sky Sport Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg has claimed that Spanish giants Real Madrid are unlikely to make a move for Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg during the current transfer window.
Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti is said to be an admirer of the Danish international and tried to sign him during his time in charge of Everton where the Toffees had even agreed personal terms with the player, but instead ended up moving to Jose Mourinho’s Tottenham. (Telegraph)
While Plettenberg has not completely ruled out an approach from the current Champions League holders, he believes it is not very unlikely during the current transfer window since they are unlikely to replace Manchester United-bound Casemiro.
X News PE #Höjbjerg: Ancelotti is a big fan of him, no doubt. Transfer to @realmadrid is not completely excluded but been told that it’s not very likely in this transfer window. Due to the fact that Real will not buy a replacement for #Casemiro probably. @SkySportDE 🇩🇰

Hojbjerg still has three years remaining on his current deal at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium, having joined the club from Southampton (transfermarkt).
Our View
Hojbjerg is one of our first-choice midfielders and Antonio Conte will not want to sell him, especially this close to the transfer window slamming shut. However, money could change things.
With Real Madrid selling Casemiro, they will have the money to offer Spurs a huge fee for the Danish midfielder if they are serious about replacing the Brazilian, but it does not give the north Londoners much time to seek a replacement, even if they look for someone more attack-minded considering they already have Oliver Skipp, Rodrigo Bentancur and Yves Bissouma.
