AC Milan have resumed talks with Tottenham Hotspur over a possible deal to take academy graduate Japhet Tanganga to the San Siro this summer, according to Gianluca di Marzio.

The Serie A giants are said to want to take the central defender on loan with an option to buy, while the north Londoners would prefer the defender to leave on a permanent basis.

Talks have only just resumed and an agreement will look to be reached between the two clubs. Former Spurs boss Jose Mourinho has also reportedly shown interest in bringing the 23-year-old to Roma (CalcioMercato).

Di Marzio suggested a few days ago tha  Inter Milan have emerged as a potential suitor for Tanganga. However, it looks like their neighbours have come back into the race with a set of fresh discussions where an update is expected next week.

Our View

Tanganga had a bright start to his Tottenham career and looked like the next big thing in our defence but Antonio Conte does not seem to rate him and he has eventually fallen down the pecking order.

Considering his versatility and the fact that he can help with the home-grown quota, Spurs would be better off keeping him. However, the fact that they are looking for a permanent deal shows that they do not feature the Hackney-born product in their future plans. I am afraid though that the best thing they could get now is a loan offer with an option to buy. A permanent sale looks unlikely during this window.
