Juan Foyth could leave Villarreal after just one year to join Barcelona, according to a report from Spanish news outlet Mundo Deportivo.

The report claims that Foyth’s agent was seen at the Catalan giants’ training ground on Tuesday after meeting with sporting director Mateu Alemany.

Barcelona are said to be in the market for a new right-back this summer with the Argentina international reported to be on their transfer shortlist after missing out on Cesar Azpilicueta, who instead decided to sign a new contract at Stamford Bridge.

Foyth joined the La Liga side on loan for the 2020/21 season and joined them on a permanent deal last summer for £12.8m (talkSPORT).

The defender had yet another impressive season last time around under Unai Emery and was a part of their unlikely Champions League run to the semi-final of the competition.

In Foyth,  Spurs had a talented player on their hands but he was unable to command a regular place in the first team and suffered due to the lack of consistency in his performances as a result.

Having impressed during his time in Spain, he could now be on the verge of a move to one of the biggest clubs in the world as recognition for his performances.
