At least ten clubs have shown an interested in signing out-of-favour Tottenham midfielder Tanguy Ndombele this summer, with the lilywhites trying to find a solution for the French midfielder before the window closes, according to Foot Mercato.
Marseille, Real Betis, Villarreal, Aston Villa, Nottingham Forest, Everton, Bayer Leverkusen, AC Milan, Napoli and Galatasaray are all said to have had the French international on their radar.
Sky Sports News reported earlier today that Ndombele along with Giovani Lo Celso, Harry Winks and Sergio Reguilon who have been told they are surplus to requirements at Tottenham have been training alone at Hotspur Way.
The report claims that Ndombele is not without suitors, with at least ten clubs credited with an interest in the player. However, two clubs who are said to have stepped up their interest are Napoli and Villarreal with both looking at a loan deal with an option to buy.
Ndombele spent the second half of last season on loan at Lyon, with his former club deciding against taking up the option to sign him on a permanent basis.
Our view
It is fair to say that Ndombele’s time Spurs has never really worked out with the Frenchman struggling to convince any of our managers to give him an extended run. There is no doubting his talent on the ball, but he lacks the passion and work rate to fit in at Tottenham.
As things stand, it looks like Spurs can only negotiate a loan deal with an option or obligation to buy. Still, it makes sense to get the player off our hands and try and recoup as much as possible from his £200,000-a-week wages at the very least.
