Lyon have refused to enter into talks to take Tottenham Hotspur midfielder back to the club on a permanent basis, according to Get French Football News.
The report claims that the north London club are looking to offload the French international this summer and are actively offering him to a number of clubs, but also accept the prospect of being forced to accept another loan deal with an option to buy should his situation remain the same into next month.
Ndombele, 25, spent the latter half of the previous season on loan at his former club, Lyon, where made 11 appearances for Les Gones and assisted twice in all competitions (transfermarkt).
Spurs head coach Antonio Conte decided to leave the midfielder back in London while he and the rest of his Spurs squad made the trip to South Korea for the first part of their pre-season tour.
Ndombele is reported to be looking to play for a club who are in next season’s Champions League with Spanish outfit Villarreal mentioned as a potential destination.
Our View
Ndombele is clearly out of Conte’s plans and is highly unlikely that Daniel Levy will get anywhere close to the club record fee they paid for him, which will mean a considerable loss.
Julian Maynard of Téléfoot (Via GFFN) reported back in May that Lyon had made up their mind about not retaining their former midfielder.
It is highly likely that Conte will continue to be backed by the board. Therefore there will be more additions this summer and it goes without saying that there will be departures as well.
Will Spurs continue to play hardball to try and recoup as much as possible in this saga or will they lower their demands? Only time will tell.
