The Irish Independent have claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are the latest club to enter the race for Liverpool goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher.
A whole host of goalkeepers have been named over potential replacements for Hugo Lloris recently, with 90 min claiming last week that Valencia’s Giorgi Mamardashvili, Brentford’s David Raya, Porto’s Diogo Costa and Inter Milan’s Andre Onana are Spurs’ top targets.
However, The Independent have now claimed that Spurs are expected to join fellow Premier League sides Brighton and Brentford in the race for Kelleher’s signature.
It is explained that the Republic of Ireland international is keen to leave Anfield this summer in order to play regular first-team football since he knows that his path to the first team is blocked by Alisson.
It is suggested that the Bees have identified Kelleher as the man to replace Raya if he leaves the Amex Stadium but they might now have competition to contend with from Spurs for the 24-year-old.
The report suggests that Liverpool would be willing to cash in on the goalkeeper if they receive an offer of about £20m for him this summer.
Our View
I would be surprised if Tottenham pursue Kelleher as their main target, given the Irishman’s lack of experience at the top level.
I expect Spurs to go for a goalkeeper with a proven track record in the Premier League such as Raya, Sanchez or even Pickford (if Everton are relegated).
