Spurs are expected to resume talks with Serie A club Napoli this week to facilitate a season-long loan move for out of favour French midfielder Tanguy Ndombele, according to the Evening Standard.

It is expected that any deal negotiated for the misfit midfielder is expected to include an option for the Italian club to buy the player on a permanent basis at the end of the current campaign.

The French international spent the second half of last season out on loan at Olympique Lyon after being deemed surplus to requirements by Antonio Conte but failed to impress his former side (Sky Sports).

Ndombele represents a quartet of players who Antonio Conte has regarded as dispensable this summer. Giovani Lo Celso who is also a part of the quartet has been already shipped out to Villarreal on a season-long simple loan with no option to buy.

Spurs have made six acquisitions in the summer transfer window and are expected to make their seventh one very soon in the form of Destiny Udogie, however, there is also a focus on outgoings with Ndombele, Reguilon and Winks all surplus to requirements.

Our View

Tanguy Ndombele has been nothing short of a disappointment in Tottenham colours having failed to live up to the hype and his price tag.  While he clearly shows talent when in possession, it is what he does without the ball which is the big concern.   His lack of work rate and desire to help out his team mates makes him the kind of player that does not fit into the current identity of the club.

Hopefully, Tottenham can get Napoli to pay the lion’s share of his £200,000 a week wages which would significantly to help reduce the wage bill.
