Tottenham Hotspur are among five Premier League clubs scouting impressive Lille pair Leny Yoro and Tiago Santos, according to TeamTalk.
Led by a young contingent, Ligue 1 side Lille are performing admirably under manager Paulo Fonseca and find themselves in fourth place in the league and top of their Conference League group. Of all the youngsters, two names that have caught the eye are Leny Yoro and Tiago Santos.
Yoro, a centre-back by trade, has played 18 times for the French club this season, scoring an impressive three goals (Transfermarkt) and is under contract with Lille that expires in 2025.
Santos, on the other hand, is a right-back, although he has featured further forward on the rare occasion. The 21-year-old has made 17 appearances this campaign and registered a solitary goal (Transfermarkt). His contract situation is tricky compared to Yoro, with his deal in place until 2028.
Both players have been capped at the U-21 levels by their respective nations. The report explains that currently, Yoro is attracting more interest than Santos but both players are coveted very highly by the Premier League clubs.
Spurs are monitoring Lille duo
The report has revealed that Spurs are not short of competition for the talented duo. Manchester United, Liverpool, Chelsea and West Ham have all been credited with interest.
Lille boast of the second-best defence in the league, conceding just 11 goals so far. To put that into perspective, that is the same as what PSG have conceded so far this season. Much of it has to do with the presence of Yoro and Santos in the backline.
Spurs Musings Opinion
Whilst the interest in young players like Yoro and Santos is understandable, we must remember that at this stage of their careers, the duo need regular game time to develop. With the exception of West Ham, I am not very sure any other club on that list including Spurs could promise them the same.
Taking into account the fact that Yoro is from France, I see him more inclined towards staying in Ligue 1 for the time being. I don’t see Spurs moving for either player in the near future.
