Blackburn Rovers defender Ashley Phillips could be set to sign his first professional contract despite interest from Tottenham Hotspur, according to Lancs Live.
The report claims that speculation suggesting the 17-year-old could be on the verge of leaving Ewood Park are premature and Rovers are confident of the teenager putting pen to paper.
The central defender wishes to understand what level of game time he is likely to get and a mix of first-team and Under-21 football is expected to satisfy his ambition, ahead of his representatives meeting with the club in the coming days.
The Daily Mail claimed yesterday that Spurs were closing in on the youngster, with the north Londoners having been tracking his progress since last season, while Manchester United and Chelsea have also watched him in action.

Tottenham certainly have an eye on the future with the arrivals of Djed Spence and Destiny Udogie, who will hopefully be the club’s wing-backs for future seasons.
Fabio Paratici has overhauled the scouting operation at the club following his arrival and it is encouraging to see the club are showing determination in trying to lure some of the country’s top talent to N17; something which has gone amiss for too many years.
