Tanguy Ndombele has told his Tottenham Hotspur teammates that he is on the verge of joining Napoli, according to the Daily Mail.

The French international has been excluded from Antonio Conte’s first-team plans in north London, which has seen him, along with Sergio Reguilon, Harry Winks and Giovani Lo Celso in having to train away from his first team.

Napoli are said to have accelerated talks following their 5-2 victory over Verona in the opening fixture of Serie A and are confident of landing the 25-year-old in a £1million loan deal which includes an option to make the move permanent at the end of the season for £26million.

Talks between Spurs’ managing director of football Fabio Paratici and his Napoli counterpart Cristiano Giuntoli are reported to have moved swiftly due to the fact the pair have been friends for over 30 years.

Ndombele spent the second half of last season on loan at Lyon, however, his former club decided against taking up an option to sign him on a permanent basis.

Our View

Ndombele can consider himself somewhat fortunate that a side who are playing in the Champions League have come in for the midfielder who has seen his career stall in recent years.

He failed to make an impression during his return to France last season and has it all to do to impress and try to rebuild his reputation both on and off the field.
