Harry Kane has reiterated his stance on the objectives that Tottenham Hotspur must achieve with Antonio Conte leading the side once again this season.

Despite winning several significant personal achievements over the years at Tottenham, trophies have always eluded Kane during that period. He has three Premier League Golden Boots and a Playmaker Award to his name, but performing to such greater heights has not helped him push his side to silverware so far.

That being said, Spurs would finally have a great chance at rectifying the lack of success now that a world-class manager like Conte is at the helm. The English captain believes that to be the case as well, which has seen him set his eyes on winning silverware in the upcoming campaign.

The north Londoners have already made quite a mark in the summer transfer window, having signed the likes of Fraser Forster, Ivan Perisic, Yves Bissouma, Richarlison and Clement Lenglet so far.  They are also said to be close to finalising a transfer for Middlesbrough’s Djed Spence (Evening Standard).

Speaking to Football.London, Kane said: “For me, it’s just to have another good year, another consistent year. Try and help the team as much as possible, try and score as many goals as I can. From the team’s point of view, it’s always to win trophies.”

“There’s a good buzz around the club at the moment but as always you have to go out there and perform and show what you can do when it’s crunch time. We haven’t quite done that over the years. Hopefully, with this manager, this squad, we can really push on and try to do something special.”

Our View

It is good to see that the 28-year-old has declared winning trophies to be among his objectives for the season up ahead, however difficult the challenge may be. After all, when the likes of Manchester City and Liverpool are among the direct rivals, the chances of attaining success are against us due to how they have fared in recent years.

Then again, we have certainly made life difficult for them in the previous campaign under Conte’s tenure. The 1-1 draw against the Reds and the 3-2 victory over Pep Guardiola’s side have been some of our best performances which played a major role in helping us pip Arsenal to the Champions League spot.

Now that we have reinforced our squad with necessary signings, one could say that Conte’s team can better themselves, looking at what they did last time around. Hence, Kane’s aspirations are certainly warranted, plus placing such challenges would force the squad to perform to their best and help them finally get what they have been yearning for quite a long time.

Whether that will happen or not, though, would entirely be up to the players and the coaching team, as the management has certainly played their part in bolstering our ranks in the best way possible through signings in this transfer window.
